Laura Roberts is an American writer whose saucy past often precedes her. As the author of the quirky “V for Vixen” sex column for Montreal’s Hour.ca from October 2007 to December 2009, and the pretty face of former erotica zine, Black Heart, her multidisciplinary work has been viewed as both saucy and sassy.
Armed with a degree in Creative Writing from Concordia University and a restless dissatisfaction with being labelled an expat Carrie Bradshaw, Roberts dissolved Black Heart in 2009 and lit out for parts unknown, finally settling into a new life as a dedicated novelist and blogger.
Currently, she is the editor of Black Heart‘s 2010 incarnation as a “literary rebellion,” where fiction of all genres thrives under the new tagline “reading, writing, rebellion.” She is also the author of the cheap-eats blog Shoestring Austin, where she continues to operate under the motto she designed for the now retired Shoestring Montreal: “because living on a budget doesn’t have to suck.”
Roberts resides somewhere in a red state with her blue (and black) heart, an outrageous collection of Bachelor’s degrees from lesser-known universities, her cat Ned, and her unbelievably hot husband.
